A die-cut handle is cut from the bag board itself, so there is no rope, ribbon, or adhesive to assemble and nothing to come loose in transit. That makes it the most recyclable and the most shippable bag format: the bags arrive flat, open in one motion, and the handle is never a separate component to inventory. The constraint is the board. A punched handle put into a lighter sheet folds over under load, while the same punch in a heavier kraft or coated board holds its shape; where the bag has to carry weight, the handle needs a reinforced fold around the cut.
